The new interface and Classic view
Why some pages briefly show 'Redirecting to Classic UI', where the old switch-views button went, how to reach Classic deliberately when you need it, and the sign-in preference that still chooses your landing page.
By the end of this page you'll know how the two interfaces relate on current versions: the new interface is the product, Classic appears automatically for the few pages that still need it, and the switch button you may remember is gone — along with the two ways to reach Classic on purpose when you have a reason to.
Content Central has been moving from its long-serving Classic interface to a modern one, page by page. On current versions that move is essentially complete, and the way the two coexist has changed — which is exactly what trips up people who learned the old arrangement.
There is no switch button anymore
Earlier versions had explicit switch-views controls. Current versions don't: you won't find a "Classic view" entry in the account menu or anywhere else, and that's by design — the new interface is the supported day-to-day experience. If you've been hunting the menus for the toggle, you can stop; it isn't hidden, it's removed.
Classic still appears — briefly, and on purpose
A few pages, mostly administrative, haven't been rebuilt in the new interface yet. When you open one, Content Central shows "Redirecting to Classic UI..." and takes you there itself; some admin tiles carry a Classic badge telling you in advance. This is normal, not an error.
The visit is one page long. Classic doesn't "stick" — your next navigation lands back in the new interface. So the pattern you'll see is: click, brief hop to an older-looking page, do the task, carry on in the modern interface.
Reaching Classic deliberately
Two mechanisms remain when you actually want the old interface:
- One page at a time: add
?newui=falseto any page's address. It applies to that single request and doesn't persist — the same mechanism the automatic redirects use. - The Classic area: browse to
/Classic/under your Content Central address (for examplehttps://docs.example.com/ContentCentral/Classic/). Everything under that path is served in Classic.
The sign-in preference that survives
One Classic-era preference still works: Use Classic View on Login, found on the Classic Preferences page (browse to /Classic/Pref/PrefGeneralOptions.aspx under your Content Central address). With it checked, signing in lands you on the Classic home page instead of the Dashboard — that's all it changes; it doesn't keep you in Classic as you navigate.
If you inherited that checkbox from years past and now land somewhere unexpected after login, this is where to un-check it.
Administrators can hide that checkbox system-wide, so on some systems it won't be there at all. If your organization has standardized on the new interface, that's why.
