CapturePoint 6 system requirements
The processor, memory, graphics card, disk and Windows version a computer needs to run CapturePoint 6: a processor-only minimum, a single-card minimum, and the three-card setup we recommend for full speed and our highest accuracy, plus the Cortexa Breeze appliance that comes ready-built for it.
Everything the computer that runs CapturePoint 6 needs: processor, memory, graphics card, disk and Windows. Three columns, from a computer with no graphics card at all to the setup that gives you our highest accuracy at full speed. Hand this page to whoever buys or builds the machine.
The short version
CapturePoint 6 reads documents on this computer, not in the cloud, so the computer decides how fast and how closely it reads. A graphics card is not required. With a supported card, CapturePoint turns on Speed boost and uses its heavier reading models; without one, it reads on the processor with lighter models and takes much longer.
| CPU only (minimum) | GPU (minimum) | GPU (recommended) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Processor | 8 cores / 16 threads | 8 cores / 16 threads | 16 cores / 32 threads |
| System memory (RAM) | 24 GB | 32 GB | 64 GB |
| Graphics card | None needed | One 12 GB NVIDIA card, RTX 40 series (Ada) or newer | Three 16 GB NVIDIA Blackwell cards (RTX 50 series) |
| Disk | 50 GB free on an SSD | 75 GB free on an SSD | 100 GB free on an SSD |
| Operating system | Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit | Windows 11, 64-bit |
| Accuracy and speed | Industry-leading accuracy that keeps learning from every correction, but below our GPU line: documents go out without the closer look, and reading uses lighter models. Much slower. | Our highest accuracy for document types, document breaks, field values and line items. Slower than recommended, because one card swaps models in and out. | Our highest accuracy, at full speed: each model has its own card. |
What each column gets you
CPU only. Every part of CapturePoint works on a computer with no graphics card: it separates documents, reads fields, learns from your corrections and exports. What changes is the reading itself. Without a card it uses lighter models, so documents go out without the closer second look the heavier models give, and reading a batch takes much longer. This column fits a small office with a modest daily volume, or a trial before you buy hardware.
GPU minimum. One supported NVIDIA card is the line where CapturePoint's heavier models come into play, and with them our highest accuracy for document types, document breaks, field values and line items. With a single card the models take turns on it, so it is slower than the recommended setup, but every document gets the full reading.
GPU recommended. Three cards let each model stay loaded on its own card, so nothing waits its turn. This is the setup for high daily volumes and for anyone who wants the fastest turnaround on every batch.
The graphics card numbers are for NVIDIA cards with the stated amount of the card's own memory. The small graphics chip built into most processors doesn't count, and neither does a card that shares the computer's main memory.
Notes on the other rows
- Processor. Cores and threads matter even with a graphics card, because separating documents, exporting and the application itself all run on the processor. On a CPU-only computer, more cores read more pages at once.
- Memory. Add memory before adding anything else if you run CapturePoint beside other heavy software. A computer at its memory limit slows everything down, not just CapturePoint.
- Disk. Install on an SSD. The free space covers CapturePoint's reading components, which it downloads and unpacks the first time it runs, plus room for the documents you scan. Keep that space free afterwards; a full disk stops batches from saving.
- Operating system. Windows 11, 64-bit. Keep Windows Update current, and install the current NVIDIA driver for your card.
- Virtual machines. A virtual machine is the CPU-only column unless a supported graphics card is assigned to it. Give it the cores and memory from the table as dedicated resources, not shared ones.
Don't want to build one? Cortexa Breeze
Ademero also sells Cortexa, AI servers built and tuned for CapturePoint 6, so you can skip the parts list. The Cortexa Breeze is the model sized for CapturePoint 6: it ships with the graphics hardware, memory and storage already matched to the reading models, and it runs on your own network, so documents never leave it. Ask Ademero sales for its current specification and a quote through the pricing page, and tell them your daily document volume so they can confirm it is the right size.
Check a computer you already have
CapturePoint measures the computer it is running on, so you don't have to guess. Install it, then choose This computer at the bottom left, then Performance, then Run speed test. The result shows how fast this computer reads and lists what may have slowed it down, including whether a supported graphics card was found and whether other apps were holding its memory. For the second question, see What's using my graphics card?.
Run the speed test on the actual computer that will do the work, with the software that normally runs on it open. A test on a different machine tells you nothing about this one.
